“Eat like a bird, poop like an elephant.”
Some of you may know of this quote by the brilliant technology guru Guy Kawasaki. It absolutely sums up my philosophy throughout my career. Especially the poop part.
Birds typically eat fifty percent of their body weight per day. I have tried to apply that to my exposure and absorbson of information and knowledge of the food industry, as well as those elements that affect the industry (trends, marketing, consumer interests, etc.). I read, I surf, I talk, I listen, I try to be the ShamWow of industry knowledge.
But more importantly I don’t hoard the information; I try to spread it around…like the elephant. I’ve always had a knack for seeing a specific application (that is, who will see value in this information, and how can I expose them to it?) for some bit of information, and I try to link that information to them in a non-threatening way (giving access, but no direction as to its value).
I try to share what I know, creating a dynamic fountain of ideas. My circle then --- my tribe --- will often go along their merry way with my poop on their shoes.
Hey, its what I do. Its what I've always done. Now its become sort of fashionable. So join me. Consume, and then re-distribute. It might hurt a little in the beginning, but in the long run, it feels really good.
“So much depends on a red wheelbarrow”
